The Boss To Go Sport personal blender is designed to make smoothies and other drinks “to go” and also to make small batches of everything from baby food to sauces. It’s basically a mini blender for quick batches, with its own set of powerful blades and two different blender cups, a 23-ounce cup, and a 15-ounce cup. It’s not, however, designed for making soup or anything hot since there are no vents in the blender cups.
You can also use the Breville Boss To Go Sport blender in addition to your full-sized Breville or another blender to make small batches, maybe during the weekday, so you can skip using and then cleaning your full-sized blender to keep it ready for larger batches.

Breville was established in Australia 1932 and is the combination of its two founders’ names, Bill O’Brien and Harry Norville. Breville started selling radios and then moved into selling televisions before they settled into their current small kitchen appliance focus.
Breville started to grow significantly after it launched its “toastie” sandwich maker in 1974. The product was a hit in it home country and from there Breville expanded to other counties, including the United Kingdom. It reached Canada and the USA in the early 2000s.
The company does its own research and development of new products, an area that founder Bill O’Brien’s son John helped to develop with an established research center.
John’s daughter Barbara become the third generation of the O’Brien family to work at Breville when she headed the marketing department in the 1990s.
Breville’s research and marketing has propelled its growth geographically as well as in sales growth as new product lines are established, including its countertop oven line and it line of blender products. You can read our review of the Breville top of the line countertop oven, the Breville Smart Oven Air here.
We have also reviewed each of the other Breville blenders that make up the Breville blender product line, in addition to the Breville Boss To Go Sport blender. There are three others, the mid-priced Fresh & Furious which we review here, the premium Breville Q reviewed here and the top of the Breville blender line Super Q blender reviewed here. our reviews of them, the Q reviewed here and the Super Q reviewed here. In addition, you can see how the Super Q compares to other premium blenders in our review of these top blenders reviewed here.
Breville’s Boss To Go Sport personal blender is basically a mini blender ideal for making single servings of smoothies, or other drinks or small batches of things like baby food when you don’t want to have to use your full-sized blender.

The Boss To Go Sport includes two BPA-free blender cups, each with its own blender cup lid, to take with you, the “To Go” part of the Boss To Go Sport. One of the cups is 23 ounces and the other is 15 ounces. The lids include a built-in Assist ring for you to use with your finger to more easily pull the lid from the cup.
The blender motor of the Boss To Go Sport is fairly powerful, rated at 1,000 watts and when combined with the Breville Kinetix blade and bowl system is powerful enough for each of the relatively small-sized blender cups to crush ice and process frozen or fresh fruit and vegetables. The four stainless steel blender blades, two serrated blades for cutting and two wide blades for sweeping, combine to break down frozen or fresh food and blend it together.
The Boss To Go Sport is really simple to operate, there are no controls or functions to think about, you just attach one of the two blender cups to the blender.
From there, holding the blender cup, twist the blender base clockwise to turn the blender on. Then turn it the other way, counter-clockwise, to turn it off. And don’t blend more than 60 seconds continuously since that will overheat and possibly damage the motor.

You can also pulse by twisting the motor base on and off, to manually pulse as many times as you like.
The blender cups, or tumbler and cup, as Breville defines them, are each meant for different uses.

The 23-ounce container, which Breville calls a tumbler, is made of a hardened impact-resistant material called Tritan that is BPA free and is designed to be used as any blender jar would be used, to blend and then pour out the blended drink or other food.
The 15-ounce cup, the sport cup as Breville calls it, is also made of BPA free Tritan impact-resistant plastic but unlike the 23-ounce tumbler, is double-walled so that your smoothie or other drink is kept cool longer after blending
Even though each container is has a different capacity, they are roughly the same size, the difference is from the double-walled 15-ounce container. The double-walled container reduces the internal capacity of it.
Each container also has a tight-fitting portable lid, or travel lid, with an assist pull ring built into each one to more easily remove the lid. Each lid has a pop-up spout to use to drink from each container.
If you don’t want to use the spout from the lid, also know that each container has smooth edges like a normal glass without threads or places for the lids to attach, so you can drink straight from the container. The lids for each container fit snugly on the containers but are not screwed on or locked in, just tightly fit, another reason for the assist pull plug.

Although the sport cup is double-walled for insulation, you can take either one or even both with you wherever you want, they’re travel lids!
It helps to know a blender’s horsepower in order to compare it with other models since most blender makers describe their blender power in horsepower. Breville mostly does not, however, provide horsepower ratings for their blenders.
To calculate horsepower, know that one horsepower is equal to 746 watts. The Breville Boss To Go Sport is rated at 1,000 watts, so to calculate the horsepower, divide 1,000 watts by 746 watts, which is 1.34. So the Boss To Go Sport has 1.34 horsepower, a fairly powerful motor for the 23–ounce or 15-ounce containers that you will be using with it.
Of the two containers, only the larger capacity 23-ounce container or tumbler is safe, the double-walled 15-ounce cup has to be hand washed.
The two lids and the blade assembly are also dishwasher safe. Use only the top rack or shelf of your dishwasher for all of the dishwasher safe components, not the lower one.
The Boss To Go Sport only comes with a 1-year warranty from Breville. That is too short. You should definitely buy an extended warranty, for as long as your budget allows since many small appliances are prone to failure and you want to be covered for as long as possible.
The warranty covers defects, but it doesn’t cover normal wear and tear. And it doesn’t cover you if you’re using it in a retail shop or if you’re using it commercially.
Breville will repair, replace, or reimburse you for the blender’s current value at the time it fails, at Breville’s option, when you use your warranty. California residents have additional options that you can see in the warranty details.
Check extended warranty options in the purchase link below.

The Breville Boss To Go Sport is a personal blender, not a full-sized one, but most of the personal blenders on the market are cheaply made for a cheap price.
The Boss To Go Sport is more expensive than those cheaper models but is also a better quality personal blender. It will hold up to repeated smoothie making and other blending and the single walled 23-ounce cup or tumbler will also hold up to your dishwasher. It all comes down to “you get what you pay for”. which is why we recommend the Breville Boss To Go Sport if you want a quality personal blender, that is, a small blender meant for smoothie or similar drink making, or mixed drinks or small batches of blended food, either in addition to your full-sized blender or in place of it.
Breville is a quality brand that you can trust, the problem is that the standard 1-year warranty provided by Breville is too short. You should definitely buy an extended warranty (you can see what’s available on Amazon below), and as long an extended warranty as your budget allows.
